September 30, 1960: Dubai's first airport

Since its inauguration, Dubai Airport, just like Dubai Creek before it, has been playing a pivotal role in the emirate's economic growth. The airport and the creek have been like two wings, enabling Dubai to fly in the face of development challenges on many fronts and embodying the ambition of Sheikh Rashid.
