Chapter 13

Dubai Metro: A giant project serving the aviation sector

The Roads and Transport Authority considers Dubai Airport as its foremost concern. Accordingly, it proceeded to increase the number of public transport bus lines serving the airport from 14 in 2006 to 26 in 2009. Moreover, the number of passengers on those routes increased in the same period from 1.7 million to 2.2 million. Also, the number of taxis allocated exclusively to serving the airport increased to 350. Dubai Metro is connected to Dubai Airport, enabling passengers to go to any place in Deira and Bur Dubai and up to Jebel Ali.
